New scale simplifies food donation weighing
LANCASTER, PA (January 2018) –Pennsylvania Scale Company, a leading U.S. manufacturer of scales and scale indicators, recently donated a Model 6600 Platform Floor Scale to the Water Street Rescue Mission in Lancaster, PA, to simplify weighing of food donations. The Water Street Rescue Mission is a non-profit organization that offers food, shelter, and health services to the homeless. The Mission accepts hundreds of thousands of pounds in food donations annually and serves more than 400 meals each day.
“The Mission will use the floor scale to weigh incoming food donations,” explained Amy Bartholomew, Water Street Rescue Mission director of partnership development. “It will save volunteer staff valuable time that can now be spent on other important Mission needs.”
The new scale was installed in the Mission’s loading dock area where it will weigh food donations as they arrive. The 48″ by 48″ scale platform allows dock receivers to easily place and weigh a wide array of box or container sizes and can also accommodate bags or other randomly shaped items.
